Il primo prototipo aveva alcuni difetti: zip troppo corta e quindi apertura poco ampia che rendeva difficile riempire la borsa e controllare il contenuto, la struttura molto morbida faceva perdere forma alla borsa, inoltre il primo prototipo non era foderato. Il secondo prototipo ha un guscio esterno in stoffa leggera di, suppongo, poliestere (è stoffa recuperata da un gazebo) mentre la fodera interna è di cotone a trama stretta. Nell'immagine vedete il prototipo in attesa della metro a Copenhagen, insieme all'altra borsa da viaggio.
The first prototype had some flaws: the zipper was too short and the small opening made hard to fill the bag and check the content, the soft shell let the bag loose shape and there was no lining. The second prototype has a light outer shell made of, I think, polyester (it is the fabric of a dismissed gazebo) while the fabric is a tight woven cotton fabric. In the picture you can see the prototype waiting for the metro in Copenhagen, with the other travel bag.
Per far mantenere la forma alla borsa ho inserito del fusto: più rigido alla base, più morbido sullo schienale. In questo modo ho un buon compromesso tra una borsa morbida e pieghevole e una borsa rigida che mantiene la forma corretta. Ho cucito il fusto alla base perchè la colla non faceva presa, ho usato del filo di nylon, che dovrebbe dare una buona durata. Il filo di nylon mi ha dato qualche problema di lavorazione, perciò i passanti sono stati cuciti col più gestibile filo di cotone. Dovrò domare il filo di nylon...
I passanti sono in plastica: non ho amato il ticchettio dei passanti in metallo del primo prototipo, in più mi sembrava fossero troppo pesanti.
I put some interfacing to let the bag keep the correct shape: a hard one on the bottom, a soft one on the back side. This gives me a foldable bag, stiff enough to keep some shape. I had to sew the interfacing to the bottom because the glue did not hold, I used nylon thread for a longer durability. It gave me some problems, so loops were sewn with a more manageable cotton thread. I will have to master nylon...
Rings are made of plastic: I did not like the ticking noise of the metal ones, plus they are lighter.
Sul lato esterno ho realizzato due tasche con zip, una grande per contenere la 'borsa dei liquidi' (e velocizzare i controlli di sicurezza) e una piccola per le cianfrusaglie. Due tasche bastano se si viaggia con una seconda borsa, in cui conservare portafogli, documenti e cellulare, ma potrebbe servire qualche tasca in più se si parte con un solo bagaglio. Come il primo prototipo, anche questa borsa può essere usata come tracolla o zaino.
On the front I made two zippered pockets, a large one for the 'liquids bag' (and to speed up security control) and a small one for random items. Two pockts are enough if you travel with another bag for wallet, papers and mobile, but might not be enough if you travel with only one bag.
Like the first prototype, this bag can be used as a backpack or a shoulder bag.
Sono piuttosto soddisfatta: all'andata sono riuscita a portare una tenda, sistemandola in diagonale: l'apertura più ampia, che permette di vedere l'intero spazio interno mi ha permesso di sistemare la sacche a compressione a triangolo (cosa non facilissima). La fodera mi piace molto: è bianca e quindi rende l'interno più luminoso e, secondo me, rende più rilassante frugare fra i vari oggetti, è solida e da una bella sensazione al tatto.
I am quite happy with this resault: on the first flight I was able to carry a tent, put in the bag diagonally: the large opening let me manage everything more clearly, arranging compression packs in triangles (a bit tricky, actually).
I really like the lining: it is white and it makes the inside so much lighter, it makes easier to dig between items, it seems durable and it is nice to touch.
Ora dovrei testarla da sola in un viaggetto, per vedere se davvero due sole tasche sono un poche...
Now I should try a little trip with this bag alone, to check if two pockets are really not enough...
