Questo è un lavoro su richiesta: un'amica si è innamorata della borsa 'scolastica' di questo post e mi ha chiesto di farne una versione in miniatura.
This is a commission: a friend fell in love with the 'school' bag in this post and asked me for a smaller version.
Per fortuna ho ancora molta di quella stoffa coi nomi di città: io l'adoro e anche la mia amica l'apprezza, soprattutto per la palette fredda e chiara.
Luckily I still have a lot of this fabric, with names of cities: I am in love with it and my friend likes it too, mainly for the cool and light palette.
Non sembra, ma è davvero piccolina, è lunga circa 25 cm.
You might not see it from the pictures, but it is really small, 25 cm of length.
Poiché la borsa è così piccola ho preferito non fare i lati a contrasto, ma ho usato la stessa stoffa per tutta la parte esterna.
Because bag is so small, I chose not to use a contrasting fabric for the side, but I used the same fabric for all the outer shell.
Per creare un contrasto abbastanza fine, in linea con una borsettina così piccina, ho giocato un po' con le cuciture. Sarebbe molto più carino se sapessi cucire dritta... ç_ç

Giunta alle cinghie, ho finito il filo chiaro e mi sono trovata in difficoltà; ho provato a cucire col filo bianco ma la differenza era troppo evidente. Ho rimediato aggiungendo una cucitura grigia su un lembo, mentre sull'altro lato ho fatto due cuciture grigie e una cucitura chiara a mano, a scopo decorativo. So che nessuno se ne accorgerà, ma sono una maniaca.
Sewing the strap, I finished the light thread and I found myself in troubles; I tried the white one but it looked too different from the other one. I solved it adding a grey seam on one side, while on the other side I made two grey seams and a light one by hand, to create a decoration. No one will notice it, but I am fastidious.
L'interno è reso un po' più pratico e sicuro da una tasca con zip, dove poter tenere al riparo portafogli o altro.
The inside is more practical and safe because of zippered pocket, where you can keep safe your precious belongings.
In realtà non è stato facilissimo ridurre il modello, poiché alcune parti non possono essere rimpicciolite quanto le altre; la fascia laterale, ad esempio, deve essere abbastanza larga da accogliere l'anello che regge la cinghia.
Di conseguenza l'ampiezza della apertura della borsa sarà vincolata dalla fascia laterale, lo stessa vale per la patta che copre l'apertura. Insomma, sono serviti un po' di aggiustamenti in corso d'opera.
In alternativa avrei dovuto usare un anello più piccolo, ma avrei dovuto usare una catenella al posto della cinghia di stoffa. Il risultato sarebbe stato molto diverso, ma forse altrettanto grazioso.
I have to say it was not easy to make this bag smaller, for some parts cannot become as small as other; for instance, the side must be large enough for the D-ring that holds the strap.
So the opening will be as large as the side and the flap will be long accordingly. At the end, I had to make some adjustments as I worked.
As an alternative I could usa a smaller D-ring, but I would have needed a chain instead of a strap.
The result would be completely different, but maybe as cute.
