Una cartella stile 'vecchia scuola'; ho un vago ricordo di averne avuta una in finta pelle (vera plastica) color rosso rubino, andavo alle elementari, pesava un quintale ed era vuota...
Ho deciso di cucirne una seguendo alla lettera queste istruzioni in inglese, trattenendomi dal fare variazioni, perchè volevo vedere quanto sono veloce nel cucire; questo sito sostiene che servono quattro ore per realizzare la borsa, io ne ho impiegate nove. Devo migliorare.

La borsa ha una tasca, appena più piccola del corpo principale, e due fibbie.
Il risultato mi piace molto, è la borsa che sto usando di più, ho il coraggio di metterla anche con una maglia rossa.

L'aspetto è proprio quello delle vecchie cartelle in pelle, grazie alla cucitura alla francese che rende evidenti i bordi.

Ho potuto così usare finalmente la stoffa che ho comprato scontata (grazie Mercatino dello Scampolo): ha un disegno formato da nomi di varie città, un omaggio al mio desiderio irrealizzato di nomadismo (ho uno spirito da 'zingara seduta', per citare Colette.)
Temevo che il disegno fosse troppo forte, sopratutto per i dettagli più piccoli della borsa, in cui le lettere sarebbero state tagliate e irriconoscibili, così ho comprato due strisce di stoffa beige e azzurra, colori presenti anche nella stoffa principale, in modo da farla risaltare.
Do I could finally use that fabric I bought on discount (thank you Mercatino dello Scampolo): it has a pattern of names of cities, it suits my unfulfilled wish to be a nomad (as Colette wrote once, I have the spirit of a 'sitting nomad'.)
I thought the pattern was too much, mainly for smaller parts, where the letters would be cut and unreadable, so I bought two stripes of beige and blue fabric, to match the main fabric.
Le chiusure sono realizzate con bottoni a pressione. Il filo blu che ho usato per quasi tutte le cuciture è troppo scuro e risalta sulla stoffa azzurra, ho deciso di cucire il bottone esterno in beige, per trasformare la cucitura in una piccola decorazione. In realtà il modello originale prevedeva fibbie a pressione, ma ho preferito usare i bottoni che avevo in casa, una combinazione di pigrizia e avarizia.
The fasteners are snap buttons. The blue thread I used for almost all the seams is to dark and it pops on the blue fabric, I chose to sew the outside button with beige, to turn the seam in a little decoration. Really the original pattern asked for side release buckles, but I prefered to use the buttons I already had, laziness and greed combined.
Uno dei problemi è stato trovare componenti in metallo dello stesso colore: i due anelli che collegano la cinghia alla borsa sono color ottone, mentre la fibbia di regolazione è grigio scuro. Il lato positivo è che l'ottone si sta macchiando con l'uso, tra qualche mese avranno tutti lo stesso colore.
Che ne pensate di questo modello? Vi sembra adatto al lavoro o è un modello troppo frivolo?
It was hard to find metal rings of matching color: the rings that link strap and bag are brass, the adjustable ring is dark grey. The good part is the brass is getting stained by use, in a few month they will all have the same color.
What do you think of this satchel? Would it be good for a office bag or is it too frivolous?
